Twisted Metal Revival Being Developed by Destruction AllStars Studio – Rumour

Rumours of a Twisted Metal revival have emerged on a number of occasions in recent weeks, and it’s been suggested that Sony has given the greenlight for the vehicular combat franchise to come back after a long hiatus. Now, a new report from VGC may also have revealed some interesting information about the project.

As per VGC, citing sources familiar with the project, the Twisted Metal revival is being developed by Lucid Games, the studio behind Destruction AllStars, the multiplayer car combat game that launched for the PS5 earlier this year. The game is supposedly in early development and is targeting a 2023 launch to coincide with the Twisted Metal TV series that is currently in development. Interestingly enough, it’s also been claimed that the game will follow a free-to-play model.

Sony has made it abundantly clear in recent months that it’s looking to diversity its first party output, and given how little they have to offer when it comes to multiplayer-focused live service games, a free-to-play Twisted Metal title could work out very well for them. This is, of course, unconfirmed right now, so keep that in mind until such time we get official word from Sony. We’ll keep an eye out for more details though, so stay tuned.
