Nintendo Denies Report on 4K Switch Models, No Plans for “Any New Model” Aside From Switch OLED

Nintendo has denied a recent report that it provided tools for development on Nintendo Switch units with 4K support. To clear up any misunderstanding, both for investors and customers, it said that the report “is not true” and that the company has “no plans for any new model” aside from the upcoming Nintendo Switch (OLED).

The report in question comes from Bloomberg which noted that “at least” 11 game companies were working on titles with a 4K Nintendo Switch kit. This includes both big and small studios, who were reportedly surprised when the Switch (OLED) had been announced. In response to questions, Nintendo called Bloomberg’s reporting “inaccurate.”

The Nintendo Switch (OLED) is out on October 8th and costs $350. It features a larger dock with a dedicated LAN port, an OLED screen and is slightly heavier. In terms of hardware and even the Joy-Cons, it’s identical to the current Switch model. We likely haven’t heard the last of the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
