Video game delays, especially in this post-COVID-19 world, are inevitable. Despite Sony feeling “pretty good” about Horizon Forbidden West releasing this year, it’s reportedly also suffered a delay. This is according to a tweet by Anton Logvinov, who first leaked Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC version. Responding to a tweet about games that have already been delayed, Logvinov said in Russian (translated via DeepL) that, “I’ll put Horizon in there, too.”
Not many details have been provided for the sequel since its release window announcement last year. Actor Ashly Burch, who plays Aloy, did recently stated that the game will have all of the things that players loved about Horizon Zero Dawn but “more and better.” Given the game’s immense scope and scale, perhaps it needs more time for polish.
Take this rumor with a grain of salt for now, especially until more sources corroborate it. Horizon Forbidden West is currently slated for the second half of 2021 and will release for PS4 and PS5. It sees Aloy traveling to the ruins of Colorado, Nevada and Utah to halt a deadly plague that’s slowly wiping away the world.
