Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s Japanese cover art is so much better than the western cover art for the game. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the iconic art of Cloud that the western cover goes for, but the sheer simplicity and minimalism of the Japanese cover is far more evocative of classic Final Fantasy art (which has sadly long since been abandoned).
Thankfully, however, we won’t have to choose between one or the other, because we will be getting both. On Twitter, Square Enix confirmed that western releases of Final Fantasy VII Remake will have a reversible cover, with the other side being the plain black cover that is being used in Japan. So if you’re like me, you can just use the inverse side of the cover sleeve (and have some snazzy art of Cloud to look at when you open the disc case, to boot).
Square recently also detailed the offensive capabilities of Aerith in the upcoming remake as well, so make sure to check that out if you haven’t already. Final Fantasy VII Remake launches exclusively for PS4 on March 3, 2020.
In North America & Europe, all physical copies of #FinalFantasy VII Remake will come with a reversible cover, which matches the front cover being used in Japan!
