About a couple of weeks ago, we reported that Pokemon Sword and Shield’s file size would be 10.3 GB, as per a download card spotted for the game at retail in Japan. Now, as per information for the game’s page on the Japanese Switch eShop (via Nintendo Everything), the official, final file size of the game has been revealed, and it’s a little lower than what was initially reported.
Pokemon Sword and Shield both require 9.5 GB of free storage space on your Switch, and both are now available for pre-loading via the Japanese eShop. At the time of writing, the pre-load option isn’t live on the US and UK eShops, but it’s likely that that will be happening imminently. This, of course, also means that the game has gone gold and its master code is complete.
Pokemon Sword and Shield are out on November 15 for the Nintendo Switch. Recently, it was confirmed that they would be comparable in length to previous Pokemon generations, and that they would offer an in-game option to purchase a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for those who don’t already have them.
