Pokemon Sword and Shield Won’t Support Cloud Saves

Among other things, a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online also gives players access to cloud saves, but it’s a feature that not all games support. Last year’s Pokemon Let’s Go! games didn’t support cloud saves, for instance, and the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield won’t do so either.

This confirmation comes to us via the game’s eShop page, and really doesn’t come as much of a surprise either. Pokemon games have only ever permitted players to have one save file at a time, which is something that is done to prevent trading with yourself (among other things). It is disappointing though, especially for those who were hoping from convenient cross-save functionality across the Switch and Switch Lite.

We also recently learned that Pokemon Sword and Shield will require 9.5 GB of free storage space on your systems. The RPG duo is available to pre-load now, and is out on November 15. Prepare for a meaty adventure, because Game Freak confirms that Sword and Shield will be about as long as previous games in the series.
